Riveo is saying goodbye
After 6 incredible years building Riveo, I'm writing to share an important update: Riveo will officially shut down on July 12th, 2026.
As Riveo winds down, I'm excited to share that Figma will be acquiring the core technology behind the product, and I'll be joining the team to continue working on the future of video effects and collaborative design.
The app has been incredibly important to me, and I want to make this transition as smooth, transparent, and fair as possible for everyone who has used it.
Services will continue operating during the transition period so you have time to keep using the app, export your data, and prepare for the final shutdown.

The backend services will continue working until July 12th, 2026.
Current functionality should be available until then. After that, any functionality requiring backend services will no longer work, that mostly means AI-related services, user accounts and templates. Offline video editing capabilities should work even after that.
The app will be removed from Sale on the App Store on June 11th, 2026. After that new downloads will not be possible. Existing App Store users can continue using the app as long as it remains installed on their device.
On Setapp users will be able to download Riveo until June 21st, 2026, and use it as long as it remains on their device.
If you delete the app after it has been removed from the App Store or Setapp, you may not be able to reinstall it.
The wind-down process will follow these phases:
• June 11th, 2026: the shutdown is announced, the App is removed from Sale
• June 21st, 2026: Riveo is removed from Setapp
• July 12th, 2026: The App is removed from the App Store, backend services will be shut down.
Subscriptions will be removed from sale and I'm taking steps to prevent further renewals where the platform controls allow it. You can also manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple Account.
Paid functionality should be available until July 12th, 2026, unless Apple processes a refund or otherwise revokes the entitlement earlier.
On App Store downloads, AI Coins may continue to be used until July 12th, 2026. After backend services end, the technical infrastructure required to redeem AI Coins will no longer operate, and unused balances will expire.
New AI Coin purchases will be disabled prior to shutdown to ensure you have sufficient time to use your existing balance.
Lifetime purchases obtained on the App Store will continue to function during the transition period until July 12th, 2026, unless you have received a refund from Apple.
Where technically possible, offline editing functionality may remain available after backend shutdown.
Because online infrastructure will eventually be discontinued, some cloud-based or account-related functionality may no longer operate after July 12th.
I have contacted Apple to issue refunds to all eligible customers. Please note that the refund decisions lie with Apple and I do not have any influence there.

Note that if your purchase is refunded you may lose access to Riveo's pro features.

Refunds for Setapp subscriptions are handled directly by Setapp.
Because Setapp manages billing and payments, I don't have access to your payment information and unfortunately can't issue or review refunds myself. I also don't have any influence over or insight into Setapp's refund decision.

After July 12th, 2026, Server-hosted user data will be permanently deleted within a defined retention period, in accordance with applicable privacy, data-protection laws and compliance needs.
Support will remain available until July 12th, 2026, though response times may be longer than usual.
I'll do my best to answer wind-down, refund, and data-export questions as well as address critical service outages, but I cannot provide general troubleshooting or feature support during the wind-down.
